With great pleasure we announce that the University of Padua has awarded, with a ceremony that took place in the splendid setting of the Aula Magna of Palazzo del Bo, the Master’s degree ad honorem in:

Art history to Volker Walter Feierabend, Founder of the VAF-Stiftung.

Volker Walter Feierabend is awarded the honorary degree on proposal of the Department of Cultural Heritage, Archaeology, Art History, Cinema and Music. An entrepreneur, Feierabend, whose activities have been carried out mainly in Italy and who is awarded the honorary degree for the following reasons: "He dedicated his life to culture, creating since the 1970s a unique collection of Italian art from the 20th century, with 2200 works by about 350 artists. He launched innovative initiatives such as the establishment in 2000 of the VAF Foundation (Volker-Aurore Feierabend), with the primary objective of a greater knowledge in Germany of Italian art and its contribution to modern art, and actively participated in the creation of the important art collection of the Mart, museum of contemporary art of Trento e Rovereto, granting a permanent deposit of most of the historical and contemporary works of the VAF Foundation. A mission therefore focused from the beginning on Italy with the desire to safeguard its collection through constant work of expansion, conservation, Promotion and protection to ensure also the continuity of an intellectual and ethical commitment towards Italian art".
