The new appointment of the series “Young Artists on the Threshold of the New Millennium”, conceived by Volker W. Feierabend and promoted by VAF-Stiftung for Manfredi Edizioni, summarizes in the title, "L’orMa. A journey into art to leave a mark", the activity of a young artist whose research, drawing inspiration from both masters of the past, such as Leonardo and Bosch, and from the present, such as Stefano Arienti and Bertozzi & Casoni, has as its main purpose that of making the work as durable as possible, so as to leave a mark, despite the ephemeral consistency of the materials used. Ranging from ceramics to paper, from leaves to cement dust, from canvas to manual intervention on photography, L’orMa (pseudonym of Lorenzo Mariani, born in 1985) tirelessly manipulates matter to probe its unexplored possibilities and challenge its limits with the spirit and skill of a miniaturist, in the constant attempt to restore value to the craftsmanship of the creative act and the social function of art. Through an in-depth introductory essay and a rich iconographic repertoire of works, grouped by media in order to make consultation even easier, the volume, edited by Serena Redaelli, presents Lorenzo Mariani’s artistic production from the very beginning, highlighting his desire to escape any attempt at definition and classification to give space to free and incessant experimentation, developed beyond fashions and clichés.
